Co-Production and Financing Market
Tailored One-to-One Meetings
At the core of Animation Production Days (APD) is our curated Co-Production and Financing Market.
A Market for Early-Stage Projects
APD focuses on projects in early development, helping producers test ideas, connect with partners, and shape their concepts in line with industry needs. At the same time, decision-makers gain early access to promising content and can actively contribute to its development.
Around 50 projects are selected each year by a committee of experienced industry experts, ensuring a high-quality and diverse line-up. Eight of these projects are part of the APD Talent Programme, which supports emerging European creatives as they present their work to the industry.
Efficient Planning, Maximum Impact:
In 25-minute one-to-one meetings, producers and creatives present their projects directly to potential partners—broadcasters, streamers, sales agents, and distributors—in a confidential, professional setting. This format enables immediate, in-depth feedback and lays the groundwork for establishing successful collaborations.
Our team takes great care in planning a customised and efficient meeting schedule for each attendee—creating the perfect conditions for productive discussions and networking. Every year around 1,000 preplanned one-to-one meetings take place at APD.
What kind of projects can be submitted for the market?
- Animated TV series, TV specials, and animated feature films
- Games, mobile content, cross-media projects, and XR animation concepts (VR, AR, MR)
- Short film projects — only if they are designed to evolve into a longer format or broader IP
What requirements must submitted projects meet?
Projects should:
- Be in the concept or development stage
- Be suitable for and open to European co-productions
- Have strong international distribution potential
- Demonstrate well-developed IP and strong creative vision
What are the main selection criteria for projects?
- Originality, creativity, and innovation in content and design
- Openness to and suitability for cross-border co-productions
- Potential for success in European and international markets
Are there any additional considerations in the selection process?
We also take into account:
- The track record of the production company
- The experience of the creative team, especially in the context of European co-productions
Special consideration is given to:
- Projects that address sustainability, inclusion, and diversity—both in content and production
- Submissions from EU countries with low audiovisual production capacity
Additionally, we aim for at least 50% of the participants with a Producer Accreditation to be women.
